Become a union steward!
Want to help make your department a better place to work and learn? To join a network of over one hundred dedicated and inspiring organizers from across the university? Consider nominating yourself for a 2025 steward position! Elections for stewards will take place later this month and the term will run from February 2025 to January 2026.
Stewards are the connective tissue of the Local—they connect members with collective efforts that span the whole university and they support members when they run into issues with the employer. Becoming a steward is the easiest and most impactful way to get involved in labour organizing in your workplace. You can read more about the role and responsibilities of stewarding in this excerpt from our bylaws.
Nominations are open until Friday January 24 at midnight. Elections will take place the following week. To nominate yourself to be a steward, log into Member Portal, go to the Forms tab and select Steward Nominations from the drop-down menu.
