CUPE 3902 Statement Against Project Resolute
The CUPE 3902 Executive Committee expresses its opposition to the Toronto Police Services (TPS) program known as Project Resolute, intended to smear, silence, persecute, and threaten supporters of Palestinian liberation since the onset of Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
As of December 2024, the TPS has arrested at least 100 people, including trade unionists, and has declared members of the academic community as personae non gratae for their pro-Palestinian activism and their firm denouncement of the occupation of Palestine under the pretense of anti-Semitism.
It is both outrageous and disturbing to see that the TPS dedicate their time and efforts to the intimidation of a community that stands against oppression, imperialism, and the defense of fundamental human rights. This complicit behavior endorses hate and discrimination.
As a labour union, CUPE 3902 stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and denounces all efforts that either overtly or covertly support the occupation and apartheid in Palestine, including Project Resolute. We call on CUPE Ontario to release a statement joining the efforts of different labor locals in this regard, and we urge the TPS to stop this shameful program and drop all charges against those who are being unfairly persecuted.
