I am a fourth-year PhD student at OISE specializing in Women and Gender Studies. For the past six years, I have been involved with campus life and university governance to ensure student-worker voices and perspectives are included and centred in decision-making. Most recently, I have served as the Recording Secretary for CUPE Local 3907, which represents graduate assistants at OISE. I am also a representative in the OISE Council. Previously, I was the internal coordinator for the Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning Student Association (CTLSA) for two years (2016-2018) and coordinated the CTL Informal Seminar Series (2018-2019). In these various roles, I have worked to serve the interests of a diverse student body and promote decision-making that is participatory, collaborative, and transparent. As an organizer of the OISE Graduate Student Research Conference, I have chaired the Website and Technology Committee in 2017 and ensured that the conference website was up-to-date. Through these various roles, I have worked to develop significant relationships diverse groups on campus (e.g. labour unions, student unions, student associations, and other interest groups).

I am running to be your next CRS so that I can ensure that members receive accurate and timely information regarding news, funds, events, service opportunities etc. While the Local’s newsletter, social media accounts, and website all provide opportunities to reach members, their formats (for the most part) allow only for one-way communication. I view my role as CRS as building a stronger community within our large and diverse membership and contributing to the labour movement more broadly (e.g. Decent Work Campaign). This past year, I have organized with other graduate students several initiatives (e.g. townhalls, surveys, petitions, UTGSU motions) centering our concerns as students and workers as the university adjusts to the COVID-19 pandemic. I plan to bring this energy and motivation to my role as CRS. In electing me, you are choosing someone whose experience will serve to strengthen our local by working alongside members, the executive, and our network of allies!
