IATSE Local 58 has been locked out by the the Board of Governors of Exhibition Place and Mayor John Tory.

This lock out comes after months of negotiations for a new collective agreement. The union says it was clear from the outset of talks that the Board of Governors did not want to reach an agreement.

The safety of all events at Exhibition Place will be compromised by companies bringing in less skilled workers to set up and supervise events. We have already seen a few instances of very unsafe conditions happening by the unskilled scab labour brought in to Exhibition Place. The plan is being driven by the Mayor’s office, to the benefit of the major corporations, such as Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, that mount events at venues on Exhibition Place.

Join us as we Rally at City Hall on August 14th 11:30am – 2:30pm to drive our message home at city hall. We want the Mayor, and the Board of Governors to reverse the decision to lock out unionized workers and ensure the work done at Exhibition ground can be done efficiently and safely again.

The meet up point will be the Toronto sign. See you all there! Please check in with a rally captain when you arrive. They will be wearing hi-vis vests.
